Women, Peace, and Security
In October 2000, the United Nations adopted Resolution 1325 on Women and Peace and Security, which recognized the critical role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflict and stressed the importance of their equal participation and full involvement in all efforts for the maintenance and promotion of peace and security. Equality Now is working for the implementation of this resolution as a matter of urgency, in the belief that women have a much needed contribution to make to the realization of global peace and security.
Equality Now initiatives concerning women, peace and security include calling for the participation of women in matters of peace and security in Afghanistan, as well as the inclusion of women in the Middle East peace process.
