This special round is organised as part of Equality Now\u2019s <\/span><b>Equal Justice Academy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, continuing WHRTI\u2019s 20-year legacy of empowering legal professionals to champion gender equality.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>About the Institute<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The WHRTI is a unique educational and training programme founded in 2004 aimed at building and developing the capacity of young lawyers from Europe, with a non-exclusive focus on Central and Eastern Europe and the Newly Independent States (CEE\/NIS), for litigation on women\u2019s rights and for campaigning for women\u2019s empowerment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Key Focus Areas include:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gender-based violence against women<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">technology-facilitated GBV<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sexual and reproductive health and rights\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">social and economic rights and employment discrimination<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">women\u2019s participation in decision-making and politics, and violence against them<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gender stereotyping\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">multiple\/intersectional discrimination<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">countering backlash against women\u2019s rights<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">understanding and navigating dis\/misinformation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Societal inequality generally, the legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic, the anti-gender backlash, wars and conflicts, and multiple other crises have all impacted women in a disproportionate and more severe manner. Women experience multiple and compounded forms of discrimination as they constitute the greater part of vulnerable groups, including elderly women, women living in rural areas, women with disabilities, women from ethnic or racial minorities, migrant and refugee women, sole parents and heads of households, and women living with other vulnerabilities, including poverty.
