Their submission highlights the urgent need to repeal Article 308, which exempts rapists from punishment if they marry their victims, and to end sex-based discrimination preventing Jordanian women from passing nationality to their children. The organisations call on Jordan to uphold its human rights obligations and ensure equality before the law.<\/p>\n<p>The 35th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 6 to 23 June 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Equality Now provided the following written statement for Agenda Item 3: Promotion and Protection of All Human Rights, including Civil, Political,
