class=\"column\">\n\n                    <p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>This submission was made by UN Women on behalf of the Action Coalition on Gender Based Violence; Equality Now; and the Alliance for Universal Digital Rights (AUDRi).<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Under\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/content\/common-agenda-report\/assets\/pdf\/Common_Agenda_Report_English.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Common Agenda<\/a>, the UN Secretary General called for a Global Digital Compact to be agreed at the Summit of the Future (September 2024) to \u201coutline shared principles for an open, free and secure digital future for all.\u201d Ensuring that women\u2019s rights organizations in all their diversity feed into this process is critical to shape a vision of digital cooperation and governance based on human rights and feminist principles. In his report to UNGA77, on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-10\/A-77-302-SG-report-EVAWG-en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Intensification of efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls<\/a>, the Secretary General proposed a high level consultation on violence against women and girls in digital contexts to inform the Global Digital Compact.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>On 6th March 2023 the Alliance for Universal Digital Rights (AUDRi),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/equalitynow.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Equality Now<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/womenleadinginai.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Women Leading In AI<\/a>, UN Women representing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forum.generationequality.org\/action-coalitions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Generation Equality Action Coalition on Gender Based Violence<\/a>\u00a0and the Governments of Spain, Finland and Mexico co-hosted a consultation event, with the participation of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/techenvoy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UN Tech Envoy<\/a>, to provide opportunities for women\u2019s rights organizations, civil society and grassroots women\u2019s groups to share their perspectives to and feed into the consultation process to ensure that the Global Digital Compact prioritizes women and girls\u2019 safety and human rights in digital spaces.<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n\n    \n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n        <a name=\"key-recommendations\"><\/a>\n\n\n<div class=\"takeaways-recommendations-block\">\n    <div class=\"header-bar\">\n        <div class=\"container\">\n            <div class=\"columns\">\n                <div class=\"column\">\n                    <h2 data-aos=\"fade-right\">Key recommendations<\/h2>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"content\">\n        <div class=\"container\">\n            <div class=\"columns is-flex-direction-row-reverse\">\n                <div class=\"column is-7-tablet is-8-desktop is-9-widescreen\" data-aos=\"fade-left\">\n\n                    \n                        <p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Eighty participants from around the world<a href=\"https:\/\/audri.org\/resources\/gdc-submission\/?preview_id=418&amp;preview_nonce=cf870e44d5&amp;_thumbnail_id=420&amp;preview=true#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0attended the session and were divided into eight groups to discuss the following questions:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:list {\"ordered\":true} --><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>What would the final version of the Global Digital Compact look like if it were rooted in a human-rights-based, feminist and intersectional approach?<\/li>\n<li>What do women in your region need to benefit from the digital revolution? And what needs to happen for all women and girls to experience safety, freedom and dignity when they are online?<\/li>\n<li>What actions do Governments, Businesses, CSOs, UN bodies, Regional Bodies and International Actors need to take in order to realise this?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --> <!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>This submission summarises the key points and recommendations that emerged during the session.<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><a
