              \n                        <p>The Online Harms White Paper sets out the government\u2019s plans for a world-leading package of online safety measures that also supports innovation and a thriving digital economy. This package comprises both legislative and non-legislative measures, aiming to hold companies more accountable for the safety of their users online, particularly children and other vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n<p>The White Paper proposes establishing a new duty of care in law towards users, which an independent regulator will oversee. Companies will be held to account for tackling a comprehensive set of online harms, ranging from illegal activity and content to behaviours which are harmful but not necessarily illegal.<\/p>\n\n These laws heighten the risk of statelessness, poverty, family separation, and violence, undermining the fundamental right to nationality.<\/p>\n<p>Grounded in regional advocacy and human rights standards, the report urges African Union Member States to enshrine gender equality in nationality laws, centre affected communities in reform processes, and sign and ratify the AU Nationality
