href=\"https:\/\/audri.org\/\">Alliance for Universal Digital Rights (AUDRi)<\/a>, in partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/sayof.org\/\">Southern Africa Youth Forum<\/a>, co-hosted a side event on technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) on 16 August in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Thirty-one young people and leaders from Madagascar, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Tanzania, Ghana, and Kenya attended. Participants called on Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states to recognise that women and girls in the Global Majority and the Southern African region are disproportionately vulnerable to biases and discrimination arising from Artificial Intelligence (AI) datasets, the enviromental and climate impacts of\u00a0 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and a deepening digital gender divide, worsened by inaccessible emerging technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The recommendations call on States to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Close the digital divide<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Protect rights and safety online<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Promote inclusion and leadership<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Uphold fundamental digital
