Equal treatment under the law is at the core of Equality Now’s mission because the law impacts every part of a woman or girl’s life. It represents a person’s worth as a citizen and a recourse to fight for justice.
A few short years after Equality Now was born, at the historic United Nations 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing, 189 nations around the world pledged to end sex discrimination in the law.
Since then, holding governments accountable to this pledge has been at the heart of our programs.
