Equality Now and the Stichting Justice Initiative Project provide the reply to the questionnaire to the third monitoring round of the implementation of the Lanzarote Convention by Russia. Lanzarote Convention is the first regional treaty dedicated specifically to the protection of children from sexual violence.
The document analyses Russia’s national legal framework in relation to the protection of children against sexual abuse in the circle of trust, i.e., by someone children trust or who exercises authority or influence over them. In particular, the authors express concerns with laws, procedures, and practices which leave many instances of sexual abuse against children unpunished.
