submission details our concerns with regard to laws related to rape and other forms of sexual violence, and procedures and practices which effectively deny access to justice for survivors of sexual violence. Specifically, Kazakhstan\u2019s legal system provides a number of opportunities for perpetrators to escape criminal liability or punishment, namely through the way sexual violence crimes are defined; allowing for the direct release of a perpetrator from liability or punishment in certain circumstances; and through the way sexual violence crimes are investigated and prosecuted, including with respect to adolescent girls.<\/p>\n<p>We recommend that questions be put before Kazakhstan by the Committee and the legal and practice changes required to ensure that perpetrators of sexual violence                               <p>Equality Now\u2019s shadow report calls for urgent reform of discriminatory nationality laws across Africa that deny women equal rights to confer citizenship to their children and spouses. These laws heighten the risk of statelessness, poverty, family separation, and violence, undermining the fundamental right to nationality.<\/p>\n<p>Grounded in regional advocacy and human rights standards, the report urges African Union Member States to enshrine gender equality in nationality laws, centre affected communities in reform processes, and sign and ratify the AU Nationality
