Patience Mwandawiro – Githaiga

Project Manager, Africa

Patience joined Equality Now in 2025 as a Project Manager in the Africa region.

Patience has 14 years experience in the humanitarian and development sector. She has previously worked with World Vision International East Africa Regional Office in various roles, with responsibilities spanning across grant acquisition and management, stakeholder engagement, as well as risk management and reporting. Patience managed a portfolio of projects with different interventions such as FGM & Empowerment, Climate Change & Protection, Education and Protection, Resilience, Health & Nutrition just to mention a few, funded by different donors. I have been particularly excited about the protection and education projects because through the project there was an increase in the number of girls accessing education and awareness creation activities helped empower women and girls on the importance of zero tolerance on FGM.

Patience has an undergraduate degree in Business & Management, a Masters in Development Studies, Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management, a Certificate in Grants Management, Project Management and others. Her feminist inspiration is Nelson Mandela, who said ““Freedom cannot be achieved unless women have been emancipated from all forms of oppression”. As a mother of sons, she would like them to grow knowing that women’s rights are human rights, and at all times women and girls must be treated with dignity and fairness.

Patience is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and speak English, Kiswahili and Taita. In her spare time she enjoys walking, reading and time in the sun.
