Nina Masore is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a deep commitment to human rights, gender equality, social justice and sustainable development. She has extensive experience in legal practice, research, legislative drafting, policy reform, advocacy, and program management, gained through diverse roles in the government, non-governmental organizations and the private sector.
She previously worked in a private law firm, litigating at all levels of the judicial system on constitutional and human rights petitions, judicial review applications, pro-bono, land and employment matters. She also worked at the Senate- Parliament of Kenya under a capacity strengthening programme by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy; at the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Justice in departments dealing with International Law and Government Transactions, Legislative Drafting, and Litigation; and at the County Government of Kwale under the USAID FIRM (Financial Inclusion for Rural Microenterprises)’s flagship County Internship Program.
Nina holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Public International Law and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Nairobi. Her LLM dissertation evaluated the role of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the protection of women’s rights under the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa (Maputo Protocol). She has published scholarly work on women’s rights and has contributed to key policy and legal reforms.
In her free time, Nina loves to spend time with family and her pets, travelling, reading about science and psychology, and playing the violin.
