Legal Advisor, End Harmful Practices
Africa
Caroline Lagat joined Equality Now in July 2021 as Legal Advisor, End Harmful Practices, leading our work to end harmful practices, specifically female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage in Africa. She is an Advocate of the High Court in Kenya.
Before joining Equality Now, Caroline worked with the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA-Kenya), OXFAM GB, and the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (the ACHPR). Caroline holds a Bachelor’s in Law and a Master’s in Human Rights and Democratisation.
Caroline believes that “advocacy for gender equality is a way of life. It’s about what we do in our private spaces which then transcend to the public space.”
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Caroline is available for interviews in English and French.
