Equality Now issues an amicus brief on the distinctive character of FGM/C as a form of gender-based violence, opposing the ruling of Oregon’s statute as unconstitutional for excluding male circumcision
Three women’s rights organisations filed an amicus brief urging an Oregon court to preserve hard-won legal protections against FGM/C and prevent their invalidation. Drawing on decades of expertise and advocacy to prevent FGM/C and protect survivors’ human rights, the amici provide the Court with information on FGM/C as a distinct form of gender-based violence and the importance of maintaining these protections.
