Yuli Pliego Pérez is Legal Advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean at Equality Now. A Mexico-based litigation lawyer and activist, she brings extensive experience in sexual violence law and policy, particularly in relation to children and adolescents, as well as the intersections between criminal and family law.
Her work focuses on the links between violence against women, violence against children, and family law processes, including custody, with a strong emphasis on advancing accountability and access to justice. She has developed deep expertise in how legal frameworks impact women and children across their life cycles, particularly in contexts where discrimination in family law limits economic autonomy and protection from violence.
In her role, Yuli supports regional advocacy efforts, with a particular focus on Mexico, contributing to campaigns addressing discrimination in family law and promoting women’s economic justice across the life cycle.
