Sexual Violence in the Maldives & across South Asia

Panelists also discussed the Concluding Observations issued by the CEDAW Committee to the Maldives.
While largely focusing on the situation in the Maldives, learnings from other South Asian countries, including how successful reforms were achieved (such as addressing marital rape in Nepal), were also discussed.
The event brought together lawmakers, representatives from state authorities, and civil society actors to delve into the current steps being taken to support survivors and encourage reporting, as well as the legal and policy changes required to improve effective response to cases of sexual violence.
