Esther joined Equality Now in 2024 as Finance Manager in the Africa Office, managing the financial and accounting functions of the office.

She has over a decade of experience in the non-profit sector, where she has developed a passion for driving impactful change through effective financial management and grants administration. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Nairobi and membership in the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Kenya. She has gained working skills in budgeting, planning, reporting, analysis, and internal controls.

Central to her working approach is ensuring compliance with organization donor and regulatory regulations while fostering transparency and accountability. Esther takes pride in her role as a catalyst for capacity building, providing training and mentorship to staff and stakeholders. Her proficiency in grants management has enabled organizations to have impactful projects that drive positive social change.

She is most proud of the tangible impact her contributions have made in advancing the missions of the organizations she has served, through financial sustainability, capacity building, and securing crucial funding.

Her commitment to feminism is fueled by inspiring women. Malala Yousafzai’s courage and countless others who defy barriers motivate her to fight for gender equality. She is inspired by the words of Audre Lorde, “I am not free while any woman is unfree,” as it captures the essence of feminism – a collective fight for liberation where we rise together.

Originally from Kitui in Kenya, Esther is currently based in Nairobi. She speaks English, Swahili, Kikuyu and Basic French and Kamba.

Beyond her professional pursuits, she enjoys youth mentorship, community engagement, and exploring different cultures through travel.
