Millicent Kwambai

Regional Communications Officer

Millicent Kwambai is the Regional Communications Officer at Equality Now. In this role, she supports the implementation of communication and media work across Africa. Millicent joined Equality Now in June 2018 as a Communications Fellow. Prior to this role, she worked at the Kenya Rural Roads Authority and the Kenya Wildlife Service. Millicent holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Public Relations) from Daystar University in Kenya. In addition to this, Millicent has a diploma in French studies (DELF) from Alliance Francaise.

She dreams of a world where women and girls live in dignity, where women and girls live freely without fear of being violated but live healthy, safe, and empowered lives. She believes that laws are crucial in ending gender inequality since they guarantee protection against abuse. She strongly believes in the transformative role and power the media holds by driving state accountability, exposing impunity, and advocating for change towards achieving gender equality.

Her favourite quote is from Malala Yousafzai: “I raise up my voice—not so that I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard. We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.”

Outside of work, Millicent loves photography, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.
