Tierney Smith

Development Assistant

Tierney joined Equality Now in 2023. In her role as Development Assistant she manages the donor database and gift processing, supporting the rest of the Development team.

Based in Pittsburgh, Tierney studied for a Bachelor’s of Science in Biobehavioral Health at Penn State University, also earning a minor in Diversity and Inclusion. There she was involved in various clubs and organizations where equality and inclusion were at the forefront of her efforts. Prior to joining Equality Now, she was a Membership and Annual Fund Assistant with the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.

Tierney is grateful and thankful to have powerful women surrounding her in her education and career. Her feminist icon is her mother, who has continuously fought for herself and those around her and taught Tierney to do the same. One of her favorite feminist inspirations is the artist group the Guerilla Girls, who focused on the exclusion and silence of female artists, especially black female artists, in New York City and across the US.

Outside of work Tierney spends time with her friends and family as much as I can, including traveling to see them. She likes to be creative and enjoys thrifting.
