Iran – Submission to the Human Rights Committee 136th Session October 2022

Key takeaways and recommendations

This submission for consideration of the List of Issues for Iran covers our concerns regarding about sex discriminatory personal status laws, the continued prevalence of female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage in Iran and the failure of the Iranian government to take concrete and effective action to end FGM and child marriage and provide support for survivors, which constitutes a violation of its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
