Job Openings Program Officer, Nairobi Equality Now, an international human rights organization dedicated to ending violence and discrimination against women globally, is seeking to recruit a Program Officer, who will assist the Nairobi Office Director with program work and specifically in the areas of managing a fund for grassroots activism to end female genital mutilation (FGM), helping draft and publish Awaken, a semi-annual newsletter that addresses FGM, and research and campaign related to the legal defense of adolescent girls in Africa. Responsibilities include: • reviewing proposals to
the FGM Fund and recommending courses of action, Required skills, knowledge and experience 1. Education: University degree preferably in law or international human rights. 2. Experience and knowledge: • At
least five years experience in the area of FGM eradication and/or human
rights violations against women. 3. Skills: • Fluency in written and spoken

Internships Equality Now has research and campaign internships and media and outreach internships. Research and campaign interns generally conduct legal and fact-finding research and draft Women's Action and campaign correspondence as the work requires. Media and outreach interns help out with media outreach, including assisting with drafting columns for newspapers and targeting other local media outlets. Interns may also attend meetings at the United Nations and participate in other advocacy efforts to further Equality Now's work. Summer interns spend 8-10 weeks full-time with Equality Now and semester interns spend approximately 10 hours a week with Equality Now. Please note that internships are unpaid and no arrangements can be made for housing or visas.
