We work with civil society worldwide

Effective change happens when we all work together

Civil society is the beating heart of our movement. We know that sustainable progress begins with people and that lasting legal change only happens when it’s driven by those closest to the issue.

We connect with and support civil society organisations across the world – from grassroots women’s groups to large NGOs – collaborating to campaign for better laws and to challenge injustice, amplifying both local voices and global agendas.

How we support civil society

We strengthen civil society’s voice in national, regional, and international policy processes through:

  • Joint legal submissions to UN and regional bodies
  • Advocacy training and tools for local movements
  • Strategic legal interventions, including co-drafting of laws and litigation
  • Amplification through global campaigns, coalition spaces, and media

A truly global network

In 2024, we sustained powerful partnerships with 267 organizations in 52 countries working to end harmful practices, sexual violence, and systemic legal inequality. These partnerships combine our global expertise with local knowledge to deliver lasting change from the ground up.

We are a member of  38 coalitions, playing a key role in 24 of them, working alongside more than 3,000 organizations and individuals. From supporting growing regional coalitions such as SAMAJ in South Asia and the Hurra Coalition in MENA, to catalysing global change through the Global Campaign for Family Law to the Alliance for Universal Digital Rights, collaborating and convening with others will always be core to what we do.
