Summary

Equality Now, WeSpeakOut, Sahiyo, and Safe Hands for Girls have filed an amicus curiae brief supporting the United States in a landmark federal case addressing female genital mutilation (FGM). Drawing on decades of global advocacy, we emphasise that FGM is a serious human rights violation affecting girls and women in the US and worldwide.

Our submission highlights international legal standards, global efforts to eliminate FGM, and the importance of strong federal protections. Together, we urge the court to uphold laws that safeguard girls from this harmful practice.
