Aakansha Saxena is a young feminist from India, South Asia. She joined Equality Now in May 2024 as the Regional Communications Officer, South Asia, and Global Communications Lead for Ending Harmful Practices (EHP). In her role, she leads the communications strategy for ending sexual violence in South Asia, anchors the South Asian Movement for Accessing Justice (SAMAJ), and drives global campaigns addressing harmful practices.
With over a decade of experience in strategic communications, gender advocacy, and feminist storytelling, Aakansha brings a strong background in marketing, media, and creative campaigning. Her work blends bold narrative-building with a deep commitment to social justice. Before joining Equality Now, Aakansha worked with several international organizations and UN agencies, including UNICEF and UN Women. She led national and international campaigns for Generation Equality and contributed to high-level forums such as the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women’s Empowerment.
Aakansha believes in the transformative power of storytelling and creativity to drive justice and systemic change. Outside of work, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, photographing everyday life, and exploring regional cuisines.
