Dr. Musimbi Kanyoro (Kenya)

Dr Musimbi Kanyoro is a former President and CEO of the Global Fund for Women and a longtime social activist in global leadership on human rights, health, education and philanthropy. Her career spans more than four decades, working at the intersection of gender and social change.

She is a published author, influential public speaker and recognised voice in promoting and practising inclusive leadership and philanthropy.

Dr Kanyoro has received many awards for her leadership of international organisations and demonstrated courage and commitment to engender justice.

She has served on many distinguished international boards, working groups and special missions. She currently serves as Chair of the International Board of United World Colleges (UWC), is a member of the Council of the London School of Economics (LSE), and sits on the Board of the UN Global Compact. She also serves on the Accountability Council of WEAfrica, an organisation that builds the agency of senior women leaders in conservation and environmental protection in Africa, and is an advisor to Homeward Bound, an international organisation devoted to the leadership development of women scientists.

Dr Kanyoro’s experience includes work-related travel to more than 160 countries to interact with local communities, a majority of whom are women.
