Shalin is an English qualified lawyer and the General Counsel of The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), a philanthropic organisation that works with a range of partners across the world to transform the lives of children. As GC, he is responsible for CIFF’s global legal, compliance and risk functions and he regularly advises the trustees on matters related to charity law, risk and governance. His team also supports CIFF’s staff in delivering on the foundation’s core missions, as well as on keeping it safe.
Shalin qualified as a lawyer in 2013, initially practicing as a corporate / commercial lawyer at a leading London based law firm, leading on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings, corporate restructurings and general commercial matters. He also worked pro bono helping a number of charities and social enterprises on corporate/commercial matters, including a micro-forestry NGO in Kenya. He moved to CIFF in 2017 and, since then, has helped grow its Legal & Compliance Team into a global function.
Shalin has a BA in Philosophy from King’s College, London and an LLB from BPP Law School.
