Russia – Equality Now submission to the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, 2017

Summary

The submission focuses on the continued violations of women’s rights in the Russian Federation. In particular, we respectfully highlight the Russian Federation’s urgent need to review and amend those laws, policies, and practices that: pose barriers to the prevention of domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault and the provision of justice to victims of such violence; bar women from participation in certain areas of the labor market on the basis of their sex; and restrict the work of non-governmental organizations.

The Committee referenced this submission in their Concluding Observations.
